A few weeks ago I mentioned the name Sam Smith, he is an English soulful, brilliant singer who has featured on Disclosure's hit single 'Latch' and has also collaborated with Naughty Boy. If you're still wondering who Sam Smith is you might of heard of the HUGE number one single 'Money On My Mind'.He is someone I started paying close attention to because a lot of the recent music coming out of the UK at the moment sounds very similar to each other, not that there is anything wrong with the current trend of the likes of Bastille, The 1975, Disclosure and Rudimental. I am a fan of all of the acts mentioned, however-Sam Sticks out he has his own sound and musical thing going on.
Smith says, as someone who has never been in a relationship before, he wanted to write an album that was honest and reflected his personal truth about falling in love and heartbreak. In an interview with 'Radio.com' the singer says that he wanted to write an album for lonely people and admits that as soon as he finds someone his songs might be a little more cheery. He is 21 years old, two years younger than myself which surprised me because I thinks his lyrics are profound and seem as if they were written by someone who has been though a lot more than I would imagine a 21 year old experiencing. After listening to this particular single several times I realised how 'ageless' his music is, I think anyone can relate to wanting to be loved he reminds me of Adele. Expect big things from Sam Smith this year, remember the name.
His album will be released later this year and I cannot wait, here is his new single 'Stay with Me' as always I wouldn't expect anything less, you go Sam, enjoy <3
