Grammys

I love this time of the year, its award season which means the biggest, recording artists, movie stars and production teams get together in one place and win awards based on their creative work released this year.

Last night I watched the 56th Grammy Awards, which I must admit I don't usually do because I find it drags on and to be honest I lose interest. This year was different, I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did. I watched the whole of the red carpet and saw some of the most beautiful dresses, I have a few favourites like Taylor Swift, I might not be her biggest fan but she looked amazing in her suit of armour.

The show was hosted by LL Cool J who was a little forgettable, I think he did an al right job, unfortunately there was nothing special about his opening monologue and hosting skills throughout the show. If you did watch the awards just take a moment and think about anything funny or interesting he may have said....See- nothing.

As for the winners of the night, Daft Punk won the biggest awards, along with their producer and close friend Pharrell Williams, the genius behind some of the biggest song of the year like 'Get Lucky' and most recently 'Happy'. Daft Punk wore their trademark helmets and remained silent for the entire night while Pharrell thanked their families and fans.
My favourite part of the show was the first performance by the queen: Beyonce and her husband Jay Z opened the show with their hit song 'Drunk in Love'. This performance was sexy and she sang her heart out. I might be biased because I am a huge fan of her music but it was the best way to open the show in my opinion and it set the mood for the night, it's nice to see them on stage together as husband and wife.

Another stand out performance was by Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons, I wasn't excited to see them perform at first but they pleasantly surprised me. It was full of energy and a breath of fresh air their performance definitely put Imagine Dragons on the fast track to becoming even more successful, while Kendrick proved just how talented he is. Apparently it was the most tweeted about moment of the entire night.

The most moving moment of the Grammys was the Macklemore and Ryan Lewis performance of 'Same Love' which of course is a song about equal gay rights and acceptance. During the powerful performance 33 couples both same sex and heterosexual got married while Queen Latifah conducted the joint ceremony. And if that wasn't great enough Madonna joined in with a a love song. This was a touching moment that acknowledged love and union regardless of sexuality and in my opinion was a great way to end the show on a positive and inspiring note.
